Professionalism

Through an Intro to Elementary Education course, I have taken this semester I have been required to work with a variety of different people and collaborate with them on different projects and assignments. This experience has helped me to learn how to work better with people in the same area as me that may have different ideas or approaches. Some of the groups have required me to think strategically about how I will teach in my classroom and how we as teachers can change the norms.

In this class, we were also part of a book club where we had to choose, as a group, a professional book that will better us as teachers and introduce us to a new aspect of teaching. My group read a professional text called Punished by Rewards. We also were challenged to speak with classmates about several other professional texts related to teaching. These discussions have allowed me to broaden the ideas I have of how I want to run my classroom, teach my class, and what it means to be a teacher in today's society.

Attached is an infographic on the overall book we were to read.

In this intro class, we were also challenged to research and find a specific current issue in education and complete a project on it. The topic I chose was the differences in public vs. private education. Also attached is the assignment I completed in relation to this assignment.
