Hello! My name is Julia Sbrissa and I am currently a student at Auburn University studying Elementary Education. I am from Birmingham, AL and plan to work as a teacher at a school in that area. Once I graduate from Auburn, I hope to someday attend graduate school with the goal of attaining my Master's Degree in Special Education.

My Teaching Philosophy: As a teacher, my goal is that each student feels valued, loved, important, and successful. I feel as though I will feel most accomplished when I see that something I have taught my students has truly helped them learn and comprehend a new topic. I want my students to feel comfortable and safe as well as supported in my classroom. I always trusted each of my teachers so much and knew I could come to them for anything I needed and that is the way I want my students to think of me. I am a firm believer in making the classroom an aesthetically pleasing environment with pleasant aromas and comfortable seating with variability to cater to each students’ needs to the best of my ability. I know that I will be effectively teaching when a student who struggled with something, in particular, has reached out for help and my guidance has helped him or her overcome whatever obstacle they were dealing with. I want to teach my students to not only be confident in themselves but to lift their peers up and learn to instill confidence in others. It is another goal of mine to encourage different perspectives and have it made known to my students that we do not all think alike, and that is a good thing. I believe something that marks successful teaching is always keeping the student in mind first. As a teacher, I want to be able to put myself in his or her shoes and think about how the student would want something done or if they are too scared to reach out for help, be there to offer it.
